With Stuart Howard aka Lapalux’ fourth EP “Some Other Time” coming up, it is time to take a closer look at him and recommend him to those of you who’s attention he did not manage to grab yet. Producing hiphop/post-dubstep-induced chill sounds since 2008, he is has been providing constant quality tunes for the last year, remixing as well as perfecting his own style: Lush, poppy, little tracks full of interesting ideas.
He is releasing on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label from L.A. now, same as Deadelus or Tokimonsta, and it is a fitting home as he features the same mixture of hiphop and electronics as those. Though living in Essex, UK, his sound is incorporating influences from both sides of the Atlantic. And he is busy this year, this EP being his second in 2012 already, having previously “When You’re Gone” as his first on Brainfeeder.
His breakthrough was the “Many Faces Out Of Focus” EP on Pictures Music (Seams, Koreless) in 2011 though. Having studied music technology, he knows how to create layers upon layers, loops after loops. “I work on music nonstop. It’s always been that way. It’s all I have ever done. It’s a habitual thing for me to just sit in my room all day creating bits and pieces, ideas, loops, seeing what works, what doesn’t, and develop those ideas.” he says.
